Koo Fori Granted Bail in $50K Fraud Case

Ghanaian comic actor Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, known as Koo Fori, has been granted bail by the Dansoman Circuit Court.
The actor was arraigned on May 12, 2025, after he was arrested on May 9 by the Accra Central Police Command.
In court on Monday, he pleaded not guilty to the $50,000 fraud charge levelled against him by a US-based individual.
The court agreed to a GH₵320,000 bail with three sureties.
According to Koo Fori’s lawyer, Derick Aboagye Asamoah, his client received an amount of $50,000 from the complainant to purchase land.
“When the money came, it was ¢270,000 and he used ¢160,000 to purchase the land as at that time, the exchange rate was ¢5.5, so the amount he used was $30,000 and apart from that, he paid $5,000 to the complainant,” he told the media.
He stated that the remaining amount has since been paid in full.
The lawyer finds it baffling that the police, knowing quite well that the amount had been paid in full, are charging his client for defrauding by false pretence.
“The issue in contention is the site of the land and the amount left to be paid to the complainant. He paid $5000 to the complainant; the amount left was $15,000. The Police are charging him for $50,000, which he has already paid in full.”
