JOYA Foundation Marks World Menstrual Hygiene Day with Health Education at Baworo M/A JHS

As part of activities marking this year’s World Menstrual Hygiene Day, the Joint Opportunities for Yielding Africa Foundation (JOYA Foundation) on May 28 organized a health education programme for students of Baworo M/A JHS in Adarko-Jachie, in the Ejisu Municipal District of the Ashanti Region, focusing on personal hygiene and menstrual health.

Speaking in an interview, the founder and executive director of JOYA Foundation, Lady Juliet Nyarko Adansi, said the organization is committed to supporting young people and communities through education and empowerment programmes.

“We are committed to supporting young people, especially girls,” she said.

According to her, the foundation annually visits schools during World Menstrual Hygiene Day to educate students, especially young girls, on menstruation and menstrual hygiene management.

She explained that this year’s programme at Baworo M/A JHS was aimed at teaching students about the menstrual cycle, proper hygiene practices, and how girls can confidently manage their periods.

Lady Juliet further disclosed that the foundation distributed sanitary pads and other hygiene materials to the students to support them in maintaining proper personal hygiene. She added that period trackers were also given to the students to help them monitor and predict their menstrual cycles effectively.

“Menstrual hygiene is essential,” she stressed.

She expressed hope that the knowledge shared during the programme would help the students manage menstruation better and boost their confidence in school and within their communities.

Lady Juliet ended by expressing gratitude to the Global Change Makers Foundation for supporting the initiative and providing items distributed to the students.
