I Waited To Hear My Name For Album Of The Year- Black Sherif

Ghana’s reigning artiste of the year, Mohammed Ismail Sharrif, popularly known as Black Sherif, has recounted one of his disappointments at the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

Black Sherif was confident “The Villain I Never Was” would win, however, it didn’t.

At the event held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Saturday, King Promise’s 5 Star received the award.

Also in the category were Jamz by Sarkodie; My Diary by Gyakie; Son of Jacob by Kwesi Authur and The Kadosh by Joe Mettle.

Speaking about his loss, he said, “I dey wait abi dem for mention my name and if them don’t mention my name I said yawa.”

But according to him, all albums nominated in the category deserved to win.

“But everybody edey there deserve am. Like they no go put your name for inside. Everyone on that bill, they deserve am. They put work in that be why they carry dem album name sef.”

He was speaking in an interview on TV3 Newday.

In all, he bagged home three awards including Artiste of the Year, Best Hip Pop Song, and Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year Award, aside from Collaboration of the Year which was picked up by Sarkodie.
