Hon Asenso Boakye’s Alma Mater In Tatters

The alma mater of Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency and Minister for Works and Housing, Francis Asenso Boakye is currently on the verge of collapse after sitting in its current state for nearly nine decades.

State M/A Basic School located in Asenso Boakye’s constituency is in tatters and poses a great threat to students and staff of the school.

The school was constructed in 1940 and has never tasted renovation.

Videos from the school showed visible cracks in walls and steps, tilted pillars, weak and porous roofing sheets, rotten wooden structures and visibly weary building altogether.

Although the building is no longer in use and has been barricaded with a tape to ward off students, it poses significant threat to people around.

Peter Akwasi Gyamfi, the Chairman of the School Management Committee (SMC) said a letter has been submitted to Hon Asenso Boakye over their grievances, however, he is yet to respond.

In addition to that, he said letters have been written to the Metro and Regional education units as well as the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) but to no avail.

Speaking with Johnson Owusu, the students pleaded with authorities to come to their aid to forestall any tragedy.

“It poses threat to our lives especially those in KG. It can collapse anytime a great win blows,” one said as another added, “I’m pleading with authorities to come to our aide and renovate it for us.”
