Hearts Of Oak Ordered To Pay Former Coach $14k

World football governing body FIFA has ordered Ghana’s premier league side Accra Hearts of Oak to pay an amount of $14,002 to its former Serbian coach Slavco Matic.

The amount covers outstanding remuneration, reimbursable expense and 2 months’ breach of contract.

This was confirmed in a statement by the Club on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.

“Accra Hearts of Oak has received a ruling from FIFA regarding a case brought against it by its former Coach, Slavko Matic.”

It explained, ”The ruling directed that the Club pay USD 14,002 as amounts outstanding for remuneration (prorated), reimbursable and 2 months breach of contract (after the supporters forcibly prevented him from training).”

The Serbian dragged the Phobians to the Federation after he left the country in March 2023 following attacks by some supporters of the club.

In his complaint with FIFA, he reportedly said the Club forced him to resign whilst he wasn’t at fault. Additionally, he said the club also failed to comply with the conditions for his severance.

He, therefore, demanded Gh¢24,777,680.00 as compensation and other benefits.
