Interdicted Police Officer Charged For Reporter Assault During Ablekuma North Election

Criminal charges have been filed against the police officer who was captured slapping a journalist during the Ablekuma North election last week.
The interdicted officer is facing assault charges, the Ghana Police Service announced in a statement on July 17.
It followed a review of the footage and statements from complainants and witnesses.
“In line with due process, the Police Officer captured in one of the videos, assaulting a journalist who was interdicted, has been held for criminal charges of assault.”
The Accra Regional Police Command further reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all persons responsible for acts of violence, intimidation, or misconduct during the elections will be held accountable under the law.
“We encourage the public to cooperate with the Police and share any credible information by contacting us on emergency numbers 18555 or 191.”
