Gov’t Denies Allotting Military Land to Ibrahim Mahama for Development

The Deputy Minister for Defence, Brogya Genfi, has dismissed allegations that President John Dramani Mahama has allotted military land to his brother, Ibrahim Mahama, for development.
He described the reports as “false and malicious,” adding that “the story is completely untrue.”
In a statement, Mr Genfi clarified that Mr Mahama had instead donated GH¢120 million towards a self-help project to replace dilapidated colonial-era buildings within Burma Camp in Accra.
The donation is for the construction of 10 blocks.
“A fundraising luncheon for this project was held last Saturday at the Ghana Military Academy, chaired by Sir Sam Jonah, and witnessed several donations and pledges from Corporate Ghana and partners of the Armed Forces,” he said.
Mr Genfi used the occasion to express appreciation to Mr Mahama for what he termed an “extraordinary act of patriotism and generosity.”
He noted that the contribution would directly improve the welfare of the “gallant men and women in uniform who sacrifice daily for the peace and security of the nation.”
“May God richly bless him, grant him more years, and multiply his generosity with greater success,” the Deputy Minister added.
