Ghana, Malta Eye Partnerships In TVET, Artificial Intelligence and Higher Education

The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has held talks with the High Commissioner of the Republic of Malta to Ghana, His Excellency Ronald Micallef, on strengthening bilateral cooperation in education and digital innovation.

The High Commissioner paid a courtesy call on the Minister on Monday, July 6, 2026, as part of a familiarisation visit to the Ministry.

During the meeting, the two discussed opportunities for collaboration between Ghana and Malta in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital innovation.

They also explored possible partnerships between higher education institutions in Malta and Ghana.

Mr Iddrisu welcomed the interest from Malta and said Ghana is keen on expanding access to skills training and technology-driven learning to meet industry demands.

He noted that partnerships in TVET and AI will be critical to equipping Ghanaian youth with competencies for the future job market.

The meeting also discussed the development of a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide a framework to guide future collaboration in the identified areas of interest.

Both sides expressed optimism that the proposed MoU will deepen educational exchanges, promote research, and facilitate staff and student mobility between institutions in the two countries.

The Ministry of Education said it will work with relevant stakeholders to finalise the terms of the agreement in the coming months.
