Ghana, Italy Deepen Educational Ties with Focus on TVET, Research and Student Exchange

Ghana and Italy are deepening educational cooperation following a high-level engagement between Minister for Education Haruna Iddrisu and Italy’s Ambassador to Ghana, Laura Ranalli.
The discussions centred on expanding collaboration across tertiary education, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), research, innovation, scholarships, and student exchange programs.
A key highlight of the meeting was the opportunity for partnerships between Ghanaian universities and the University of Padua, one of Europe’s oldest and most prestigious institutions.
Officials said the proposed collaboration could open doors for joint research projects, faculty exchanges, and new scholarship pathways for Ghanaian students.
Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing skills development, academic excellence, and international research partnerships.
Iddrisu noted that strengthening TVET and innovation linkages with Italy aligns with Ghana’s push to equip youth with job-ready skills and drive industrial growth.
Ambassador Ranalli said Italy is keen to support Ghana’s education reforms and expand people-to-people ties through academic mobility.
She added that the University of Padua’s experience in research and technology transfer could offer valuable models for Ghanaian institutions.
