Ghana and Germany Enter Talks For Ghanaian Youth Employment

Ghana and Germany have initiated discussions for a labour mobility agreement.

This deal, once successful, will witness the employment of thousands of Ghanaian youth to work for Germany.

According to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, this forms part of a special bilateral arrangement.

“This agreement currently under discussion would guarantee safe, rewarding and dignified employment similar to what Germany and Kenya signed recently,” he wrote in a statement on May 14.

The Minister said he expects actual implementation soon.

“President Mahama’s government believes in meaningful and impactful diplomacy which boldly addresses the most important challenges confronting our people.”

This is on the sidelines of the UN Peacekeeping Ministerial ongoing in Berlin, where Ablakwa met with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, Mr. Joachim Stamp, the Special Representative of the Federal Government for Migration Agreements, and top officials of the German Interior.
