Funny Face Opens Up On Aftermath Of His Depression

Ghanaian comedian Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng, popularly known as Funny Face has recounted the series of incidents that characterised his recovery from Depression last year.

In an interview, the actor cum singer encouraged persons who feel like ending their lives to have second thoughts.

He shared their pain and recounted how the thought of suicide haunted him.

“Everything you are going through if you stay focused and steadfast in the lord, you will look back on this day and laugh.”

Among the calamities that befell him on his way to recovery and after recovery included the deaths of some of his close relatives and a robbery attack.

“My brother died and I was informed while at the psychiatric {hospital} at a time, I needed a sound mind to recover. This made me feel I wanted to die…When you come back from depression, it’s worse than first…because you have done a lot of things and the consequences and guilts will be weighing on you.”

“Armed robbers didn’t spare me. I was robbed. Armed robbers came to rob me. They robbed everything in my home and left me an iron….On the sixth of December, my father died”, he disclosed for the first time.

He encouraged persons going through a similar episode in life not to give up but confide in a trusted person.

In his case, he said, he confided in his Manager who was of immense help to him.
