Free Water, Electricity, others ahead of 2020 Polls Part of Political Game – UG Lecturer

Political Marketing Strategist at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Dr. Kobby Mensah has shot down claims that President Akufo-Addo has politicize issues of COVID-19 anytime he addresses Ghanaians on the way forward.
“Let’s all understand that Nana Akufo-Addo is the President of Ghana and at the same time flag bearer of NPP”, the Lecturer pointed out on Opemsuo FM morning show.
Some Ghanaians including leading members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have accused the President of taking undue political advantage ahead of the December 7 general elections.
According to them, the announcement by the Government to give free water and electricity to Ghanaians few months to general elections is unfair since it will put NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo who is contestant in the December 7 polls ahead of NDC’s John Mahama and others in the race.
“Call those freebies as free or whatever you like, it is part of the game. The President is doing that for only good reasons”, Dr. Kobby Mensah told host, George Opoku Mensah Agudey after President Akufo-Addo has instructed the Gender Minister to provide one hot meal to all final year Junior High School (JHS) pupils in schools preparing to write the BECE.
According to him, all 584,000 final year JHS pupils across the country are to receive one hot meal each day.
Staff of the schools are also expected to be provided with the meals daily.
Akufo-Addo announced this during his 15th televised address to the nation on Sunday, August 16, 2020.
He indicated that, the decision stems from complaints from students about going hungry in an attempt to fully comply with COVID-19 preventive protocols.
