FAO Boosts Veterinary Services with 20 Pickups, 261 Motorbikes

The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) has significantly enhanced government veterinary services through a substantial provision of essential resources and equipment, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, has announced.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Hon. Opoku said the support includes a fleet of 20 Toyota Hilux four-wheel-drive pickup vehicles and 261 motorcycles to extend the reach of veterinary care to remote areas.
To improve diagnostic and administrative capabilities, FAO has also supplied 115 laptop computers, 110 tablet devices and 90 desktop computers, he added.
The Minister noted that the programme further encompasses vital laboratory supplies such as reagents and diagnostic kits, alongside field sampling materials and personal protective equipment for veterinary personnel.
He disclosed that six veterinary laboratories across the nation are undergoing rehabilitation to improve their operational capacity.
Opoku said the interventions will strengthen disease surveillance, improve response times and enhance overall animal health service delivery nationwide.
