ECG, GRIDCo Blame Tipper Truck for Outage

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) say a tipper truck has damaged the Nkawkaw – Konongo Transmission Line causing disruption in power supply to some parts of the country.

According to a joint statement issued by the two, the tipper truck was discharging stones at a private developer’s construction site near the transmission line when its lifted bucket contacted the line conductor, damaging it.

This resulted in the tripping of all power plants at Aboadze and Anwomaso cutting power supply in the Western, Central and Northern and Greater Accra regions on Thursday afternoon.

Apologising for the inconvenience, they said engineers have since visited the scene to repair the damaged transmission line.

“Our engineers have mobilised to the location to repair the damaged transmission line and work is ongoing to restore all affected areas by 6 pm today.”
