Sam George Seeks A-G Advice on Contracts Awarded By Ursula

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George, has written to the Attorney General and the Minister for Justice, Dominic Ayine seeking legal opinion on two contracts that were awarded by his predecessor, Ursula Owusu Erkuful.
The move, according to the Ministry, aligns with President Joh Dramani Mahama’s aim to achieve Value For Money and leave no room for corruption.
It also said it is the first phase of legal reviews of contracts signed and executed under the former Minister.
The affected contracts include the e-Government Infrastructure Contract by Messrs Lebara Ghana Ltd and Smart Infraco Ghana Ltd and the Design, Development, and Implementation of a Common Platform for Traffic Monitoring, Revenue Assurance, Mobile Money Monitoring, and Fraud Management by Messrs Kelni GVG Ltd.
The Minister is seeking legal opinion on the terms, compliance and viability of the contracts for the commercialization of these contracts.
“The Honourable Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations in line with the President’s vision of zero tolerance for corruption and Value For Money on all public-private partnerships has written to the Honourable Minister for Justice and Attorney-General for advice on a number of contracts signed at the Ministry.”
The Ministry said the public would be notified of the responses from the Attorney General and any subsequent action.
