Cabinet Holds Final Session on Government Position Paper for Constitutional Review

Government is currently holding the third and final Cabinet session to deliberate on its Position Paper on proposed constitutional review reforms.

Government Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, disclosed this in a Facebook post today, July 14, 2026.

The meeting marks the conclusion of Cabinet’s internal deliberations on the proposals before they are presented for broader stakeholder engagement and onward processes.

The constitutional review process has been a key part of Government’s governance agenda, aimed at addressing long-standing gaps in the 1992 Constitution and aligning it with current democratic and developmental needs.

While details of the specific proposals in the Position Paper have not yet been made public, the final Cabinet session is expected to harmonise Government’s stance ahead of consultations with Parliament, civil society, and other stakeholders.

The constitutional review exercise has drawn interest from legal experts, political parties, and civil society groups who have for years called for reforms in areas including the powers of the executive, election management, and decentralisation.
