Bawumia Rocks Kente For Second Akwasidae

Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was on Sunday joined by the vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the second Akwasidae of the year 2023.

 

The first Akwasidae was celebrated on February 5 where as always, dignitaries from across the country and beyond took part.

 

On March 19 which marked the second of the year, it was attended by dignitaries including the vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Samira Bawumia.

 

Bawumia draped a beautiful Kente cloth for the festival.

 

He was applauded for adorning the cloth expertly.

Other officials who accompanied the vice President, including the Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, Minister for Communication and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu Erkuful, Minister for Energy, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum and others were also in kente.

Speaking on behalf of the vice President, Hon Simon Osei Mensah expressed appreciation to the King for his support and counsel at all times and for joining him commission the renovated Kumasi Central Mosque on March 3.

He also shared in the pain of the residents of the Ashanti region over the destruction of Kumasi City Market Limited (KCML) popularly known as the new Kejetia market.

The Minister further disclosed the veep’s intention to inspect the market complex and assess the extent of the destruction.

 

Others who accompanied the veep were Simon Osei Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko, Western Regional Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Kwasi Amoako Atta, Minister for Roads, Anthony Nsiah Asare, Presidential Advisor on Health, Henry Quartey, Greater Accra Regional Minister.

 

Also were Joseph Osei-Owusu, First Deputy Speaker, Ambrose Dery, Minister for Interior, other government appointees, NPP leadership and Members of Parliament (MPs).
