“Don’t sell your Heritage to Politicians” – Asantehene counsels Traditional Rulers

The overlord of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu Ababio has advised traditional rulers in the country to desist from kowtowing to the whims and caprices of politicians to restore the lost glory of the traditional institution.
“Don’t sell your heritage to politicians”, the revered King as Special Guest admonished during the recommissioning of the renovated office complex of the National House of Chiefs building in Kumasi.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II pointed out that chieftaincy is gradually loosing the people’s respect because members are failing to maintain good standard deserving of such a respected institution.
The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II therefore accounted that before coming into existence of politics, the country was then ruled by chiefs and does not understand why chiefs of today will bring their esteem down for politicians to use them as their conduit.
“Don’t go to them. ..let them come to you for advise”, Otumfuo Asantehene stressed before chiefs from the sixteen(16) regions.
Opemsuo Osei Tutu Ababio also charged chiefs in the country to ensure peace in their respective areas as Ghanaians go to the polls on December 7, to elect a President and Members of Parliament (MP) to steer the affairs of the country for another four year term.
