The Secretary of the Asogli State, Stephen Tetteh has indicated that he mistakenly sent an invitation to Member of Parliament for Assin Central constituency, Kennedy Agyapong for the 2022 Yam Festival.
He explained that the legislator requested an invitation to attend the programme, however, the leadership of the Asogli State Council withstood due to some unsavoury comments he passed in times past against their chief Agbogbomefia Togbe Afede XIV.
According to him, their disapproval was due to “several loose comments and utterances he (Ken Agyapong) had made which the Council viewed as unbecoming of an Honourable Member of Ghana’s Parliament”.
He, therefore, apologised to the legislator and the Council.
“In view of the above, I accept responsibility for the administrative lapse which resulted in the sending of an invitation letter lo Mr. Agyapong. I apologise to both the Asogli State Council and Mr. Agyapong.”
It is reported that Kennedy Agyapong attended the celebration on Friday but was unwelcome. His gifts for Togbe Afede XIV was also got rejected.
Later, an invitation from the Council addressed to the lawmaker popped up on social media indicating that he was indeed invited by the council.
