Ashanti Regional Minister Engages STC to Deploy More Buses for Intra-City Transport

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has engaged the Board Chairman of the State Transport Company, Mr Augustus Andrews Nana Akwasi, on plans to deploy additional buses to support intra-city public transport in the region.

In a Facebook post following the meeting, Dr Amoakohene said the discussion focused on strengthening urban mobility, particularly during peak commuting hours.

He noted that reliable and accessible public transport is critical to improving productivity, reducing congestion, and supporting economic activity across the Ashanti Region.

The Minister also expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for Transport for the provision of 19 buses to boost the Metro Mass Transit fleet in the region.

“With additional support from STC, we are confident of further improving public transportation and providing commuters with a safer, more efficient, and more reliable travel experience,” he stated.

Dr Amoakohene added that the collaboration forms part of broader efforts to build a transport system that responds to the needs of growing cities and advances the government’s Reset Agenda.

The Region has in recent years experienced increased pressure on public transport services due to population growth and urban expansion, with authorities seeking partnerships to ease the burden on commuters.
