Rein In Your Security Operatives; Bawumia Tells Mahama.

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged President John Dramani Mahama to call the members of the national security to order.
In a Facebook post condemning the raid and attempted arrest of the Member of Parliament for Assin South Constituency, Rev John Ntim Fordjour on April 9, he stated that the government was using state institutions to “harass” and “persecute” political opponents.
“I wish to reiterate my earlier submission to the President, H.E John Dramani Mahama, to immediately rein in his security operatives. State institutions must not be reduced to political tools used to harass and intimidate opponents.”
According to him, such “lawlessness” will not be countenanced in the country.
“Ghanaians will not accept this descent into lawlessness and fear. Our democracy is hinged on due process and rule of law.”
Meanwhile, he urged all Party faithful to remain calm, steadfast, and law-abiding.
This message follows his visit to sympathise with the lawmaker and Ranking member on the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament at his residence.
From his observations, Rev. Fordjour was in high spirits and undaunted.
Background
On April 1, Rev Ntim Fordjour put out claims to the effect that two aircraft that landed in Ghana on March 12 and March 20 were used for drug trafficking and money laundering.
President John Dramani Mahama in response to this said he had directed requisite security agencies to engage the lawmaker to probe the allegations.
On April 3, 2025, Felix dispelled the claims, noting that their landing was legitimate and genuine.
According to him, “no contraband or unlawful commodities” were found on the aircraft after inspections by officials of the Aviation Security, Narcotic Control Commission (NACOC), National Security and the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
Following failed attempts to get him to prove his claims upon his insistence, officers from the NIB stormed his residence to arrest and “compel” him to provide proof on Wednesday.
However, the intervention of some bigwigs of his party foiled the attempt after it was found that there was neither an arrest warrant nor correspondence to the Speaker of Parliament.
