Asanteman and Zongo Development Chiefs Gift Asantehene White Horse
Two development chiefs in Asanteman have gifted the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, a white horse on the occasion of his 25th Enstoolment Anniversary.
Asanteman Nkosuohene Nana Osei Kwame Kyeretwie and Zongo Nkosuohene Alhaji Abdullai Ali Barry presented the horse draped in the flag of Asanteman on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, during the “Ahoho Da”, one of the events to mark the 25th Enstoolment Anniversary of the King.
The horse was procured from Burkina Faso, Nana Osei Kwame Kyeretwie announced at the event while speaking on their behalf.
He lauded the King’s pursuit for peace which he said had led to cohesion in the Zongo Community since the death of the Sarkin Zango and had subsequently paved the way for the installation of his successor.
“Together with Zongo Nkosuohene, we travelled to Burkina to buy a horse as a gift for our lord. Our lord will name it and we will find a stable for it.”
Speaking to Opemsuo Radio’s Kwame Awuah Nimfuor during the event, Alhaji Barry explained the motive behind the gift saying, “White signifies joy and that is exactly what we wish for the King. This is historic. No one has gifted something like this to the King ever before… The flag signifies our love for Asanteman.”
Adding more, his secretary said the historic day called for a unique present and thus the horse.
“On this historic day, we needed something unique as a gift to the King. It also bears witness to our commitment. We are ready to avail ourselves to the service of the King at all times.”
