Anti Gay Bill: Sam George Threatens to Mention ‘Big Men’ in Govt Trying to Block it

The proponents of the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values bill also known as the Anti-LGBTQ bill have expressed fury over the inability of Parliament to take the bill at its consideration stage.

The bill seeks to proscribe LGBTQ+ and related activities, proscribe propaganda of, advocacy for or promotion of LGBT and related activities; provide for the protection of and support for children, and persons who are victims or accused of LGBT and related activities.

Although the bill was expected to be taken today, the house was unable to do so due to the absence of the Chairman of the Constitutional Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, Kwame Ayimadu-Antwi.

Speaking to journalists, the lead proponent, Samuel Nartey George alleged that deliberate attempts are being made by the majority caucus to step down the bill.

He threatened to mention some key names in the majority caucus and in government who are trying to block the bill not to be taken by the house.

Angry Sam George also threatened to visit those members’ constituency to campaign against them in the upcoming NPP parliamentary primaries.

According to him, all these are calculated attempts to disgrace Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament who has assured the people of Ghana that the bill will be passed.
