Algerian Parliament Speaker Arrives for UN Slavery Trafficking Resolution Conference

The Speaker of the Algerian Parliament, Mr Azouz Nasri, has arrived in Accra to join the Next Steps High-Level Consultative Conference on implementing the landmark United Nations Resolution on the Trafficking of Enslaved Africans.
He was received at the Jubilee Lounge by Ghana’s First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor, ahead of the three-day meeting.
The conference runs from 17–19 June 2026 and will bring together leaders and stakeholders from Africa and the African diaspora.
Discussions will focus on the implications of the UN Resolution for Africans and people of African descent worldwide.
Key objectives include advancing a coordinated global framework to strengthen advocacy and guide practical implementation of the resolution, which addresses the historical trafficking of enslaved Africans.
Ghana is hosting the high-level consultative meeting as part of ongoing continental and diaspora efforts to translate the UN resolution into policy and action.
