Kusasi Chief Killing: Let’s Abide By Otumfuo’s Counsel- Asawase Zongo Residents Told
The Office of Asawase Zongo Community Chief has directed members to abide by the counsel of the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, following the gruesome murder of the Ashanti Kusasi chief, Abdul-Malik Azenbe.
In a statement, he urged restraint to enable the security forces to carry out the needed investigation.
“Let us heed the wise counsel of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, who continues to provide an enabling environment for peaceful coexistence among the diverse communities in the region.”
“In the wake of this unfortunate incident, we respectfully appeal to the entire Zongo community and the general public to remain calm and peaceful, and to allow the security agencies the necessary space and cooperation to conduct thorough investigations. We urge all residents to assist the authorities with credible information that may lead to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for this heinous act.”
He asserted that the tragedy must not be allowed to sow discord or unrest, as he emphasised that the strength of the community was in their ability to unite in discipline and adherence to the teachings of peace in Islam and the values of mutual respect and tolerance.
Meanwhile, he called on the security services to carry out their duties with professionalism, diligence, and urgency to bring the perpetrators to justice and reassure the public of their safety.
The Kusasi chief was shot dead at Asawase on the night of Tuesday, 22nd July, 2025.
