4 Killed In Enchi Chieftaincy Clash

Four persons have lost their lives in a dispute at Enchi in the Western region.

The police have linked the dispute to chieftaincy.

The incident transpired on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at the palace of the paramount chief of the Enchi Traditional Council.

Reports say an exchange of gunfire ensued when some men wielding weapons stormed the palace early in the morning.

The gun battle led to the death of four persons with one other sustaining injury.

The police did not identify which faction the four belonged to, however, reports say all four were among the intruders.

It is not clear if the paramount chief of the Enchi Traditional council, Beyeeman Tano Kwao Benbuin II was at the palace at the time of the attack.

CCTV Footage shared by JoyNews purportedly showing the journey of the intruders to the palace showed about 13 men with guns and cutlasses strolling some streets.

The media outlet says the footage depicts the arrival of the gang before the clash.

The Ghana Police Service says calm has been restored with security beefed up in the town, at the palace, and in surrounding communities.

Per the statement released by the police, no arrest had been made as of Sunday.

However, the police said the investigation is ongoing.
