4 Arrested Over Robbery At Gold-buying Company

The police in the Eastern region have in their grips four people suspected to be involved in an armed robbery operation at a gold-buying company in the region.

The robbery incident, according to the police, happened on May 27, 2022, at Asaman Tamfoe.

The Ghana Police Service recounts that “the robbers, numbering seven, attacked a gold buying company in the town, shot and killed the security man on duty and robbed the company of an unspecified amount of money. While attempting to escape, they also shot one other person who later died.”

The four were arrested through an intelligence-led operation over a period of nine weeks, the police said.

Two of them were separately rounded in Kumasi.

“Suspect Moro Saado was arrested on June 3, 2022, in Kumasi, suspect Aliu Ousmanu who shot the security man was arrested on June 14 at Akanten, near Asesewa in the Eastern Region, Elvis Kwaasie was arrested on June 15 at Asaman Tamfoe and Issaka Abdul alias Baba Liman was arrested at Sofoline, Kumasi on August 2”, the police narrated.

The police are hopeful that the remaining three suspects will be rounded up sooner or later.
