2 Arrested For Allegedly Robbing A Mining Company

Two robbery suspects are in the custody of the Ghana Police Service after they were arrested over their involvement in a robbery at Bogoso in the Western Region.

A statement from the police said they were arrested on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, the same day the robbery was carried out.

They have been identified as Derrick Kwabena and Daniel Ofori.

According to the police they were among six suspects who stormed the premises of the mining company to embark on robbery.

“The Police responded and succeeded in arresting Derrick Kwabena on the spot while the other accomplices escaped. Further investigation led to the arrest of suspect Daniel Ofori, who was in a waiting Toyota Hilux pickup vehicle for the rest of the suspects and the booty.”

The police say they retrieved some items from the suspects. They included a quantity of gold concentrate in a fertilizer sack, one pistol, one cutlass, five BB cartridges, one Toyota Hilux pickup with registration No. GN 3020-17, and some talisman.

“The two suspects are in lawful custody while efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspects to face justice,” the police said.
