22 Players Report to Black Stars Camp in Puebla Ahead of Mexico Friendly

The Black Stars have made solid progress in their pre-World Cup preparations, with twenty-two players already reporting to camp in Puebla, Mexico, ahead of Friday’s international friendly against the 2026 World Cup co-hosts.
Head coach Carlos Queiroz now has a strong core group at his disposal as full training sessions intensify following the team’s arrival in North America earlier this week.
Notable players already in camp include goalkeeper Benjamin Asare of Hearts of Oak, midfielders Majeed Ashimeru and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, winger Ibrahim Osman, as well as defenders Nathaniel Adjei and Terry Yegbe.
The highly-rated Barcelona Atlètic pair, Abdul Aziz Issah and David Oduro, are also present and eager to impress.
Other players who have joined the squad are Felix Afena-Gyan, Salim Adams, Prince Amoako Jr, Jerry Afriyie, Razak Simpson, Joseph Opoku, Jan Gyamerah, Emmanuel Agyei, Daniel Agyei, Ebenezer Abban, Oscar Oppong, Solomon Agbasi, Ebenezer Adade and Dacosta Antwi.
The friendly against Mexico on May 22 is viewed as a crucial test for Queiroz as he evaluates the squad just days before naming Ghana’s final team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars will open their Group L campaign against Panama on June 17, before taking on England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
With several key European-based players still expected to join the camp in the coming days, the technical team remains focused on building cohesion and sharpness as the biggest stage in world football draws closer.
