US Embassy in Ghana Allays Fears After Travel Ban Speculations

The United States of America (USA) embassy in Accra has reacted in the face of speculations that the West African nation is among the second set of countries to be banned from travelling to its country.
In its statement, the embassy said it still welcomes Ghanaians who may want to study, invest, or engage in business activities in the United States.
That notwithstanding, it emphasised the need for all visa applicants to comply with U.S. laws.
“Any attempts to enter the United States illegally with falsified information for a visa, work without proper authorization, or overstay a visa will incur significant penalties.”
Meanwhile, it warned against the use of a fixer or visa consultant to apply for a U.S. visa.
“This can be done directly through our official website at no extra cost. It is important to note that no fixer or consultant can guarantee a visa. Any such promises are deceptive and intended to defraud you.”
Two weeks ago, the Trump administration banned people from Chad, Congo-Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Haiti, Iran, Yemen, Burundi, Sierra Leone, Togo, Cuba, Laos, Turkmenistan and Venezuela from entering the US.
It promised another row ban in subsequent weeks.
