MoE Announces Placement of Over 564,000 Candidates at Resolution Centres

The Ministry of Education (MoE) says a vast majority of placement-related concerns for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates have been resolved.

According to the Ministry, over 564,000 out of 590,390 qualified candidates have been successfully placed in Senior High Schools and Technical Institutes since September 18, 2025.

It reported that the Centres have received a total of 1,358 cases, the majority of which relate to school and residence changes.

Change of School
In a breakdown, it said it received 1,100 requests for change of School, adding that approximately 76% of the requests involve movements from Category C and B schools to Category A schools, while 14% requested movement from B to B, and 10% from C to C.

It noted that while the Ministry of Education appreciates the strong interest of parents and guardians in Category A schools, placement is determined by raw scores, available vacancies, and competition levels.

“As such, even high-performing candidates may not always secure their first-choice schools if competition and vacancy levels are high. Genuine concerns brought to the Centre are being reviewed and addressed accordingly.”

Change of residence
With the issue of residence, the Ministry said that candidates’ residences cannot ordinarily be changed.

However, special concessions are considered in health challenges or family relocation cases.

Self-Placement
The Ministry encouraged qualified students who were not placed through the automatic system to use the self-placement option.

“So far, about 70% of such candidates have been successfully placed through this process.”

Meanwhile, it said Change of Programme requests are being reviewed by the Secretariat.

It further assured parents, guardians, and students that all outstanding concerns are being handled diligently to ensure a fair and smooth placement process.

Additionally, data for re-entry students is currently being processed for placement.
