Nananom Fix New Date for Daddy Lumba’s Funeral

A new date has been set for the final funeral rites and burial of the late legendary musician Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
This was the resolution that was passed by Nananom following the invocation of the Great Oath by the sister of the musician, Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa, against the Family.
When the Gyaase Division and the relevant traditional authorities sat on the case on November 10, 2025, at the Palace of Nana Saaman Nantwi II, Otumfuo Saamanhene, Brempomaa requested a postmortem to be conducted, disclosing her suspicion of foul play.
She thereby requested that the burial and funeral be deferred until the test was conducted to ascertain the real cause of death.
Rebuke
The entire family was rebuked by Nananom for subjecting the late legend to public ridicule.
“You are disgracing Lumba. Everyone is watching and ridiculing because of this case. Is it good? What do you want? Are you after properties? What is the matter…The entire family must unite in this cause to give the deceased a befitting burial.”
Decisions
The invoker of the oath was informed about Asantehene’s decision to pardon her for the vain act, cautioning her to desist from such actions.
It was stated that the funeral will proceed, albeit on a new date.
It was decided that the issue of postmortem would be handled by the police, while December 13 was set as the new date.
“The police will have to deal with the suspicion of foul play in the death. We work with the law. It’s a case for the police, and we cannot keep the body unburied until the case is settled. If you weren’t consulted for the date, we will have to set a new date…If the police feel the burial must be delayed, they will secure an injunction,” Baffour Kantankrankyi, linguist of Asantehene said, refusing the request for an order for postmortem.”
In addition, the linguist noted that the barring or otherwise of any of the wives from the funeral will be left for the court.
“Whether any of the wives will be barred from the funeral will be the court’s decision. We cannot resolve the case of the women here. It’s already with the court.”
The traditional authorities also instantly dissolved the existing Funeral Committee of the family.
“A new Committee will be set to take charge of the funeral arrangements.”
Baffour also mentioned that the court will determine the distribution of the late musician’s properties after the funeral.
