Universities Senior Staff Suspend Strike After Positive Govt Response

The Senior Staff Association of Ghana, together with the Technical University Administrators Association and the Federation of Universities Senior Staff Association, have suspended their industrial action.
This follows a positive government response to their demand for their conditions of service.
“The Ministry of Finance has finally released the long-awaited letter authorizing the implementation of the negotiated agreement, effective 1 November 2024,” it said in a statement.
It noted that the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has also written, authorizing the universities to effect payment immediately.
It has since directed its members to resume work on Friday, May 23, 2025.
“We want to thank the Hon. Minister of Education and Prof. Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai for their immense efforts in making this a reality. We also thank the media and our cherished members for your goodwill and support.”
The staff laid down their tools on May 22.
