U/WR: Police Arrest Two Suspects in Road Robbery, Recover Stolen Motorbikes

The police have arrested two robbery suspects linked to an attack on the Tumu-Kowie road in the Sissala East District on May 30, 2026.

The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Seidu Muizu and 22-year-old Salifu Mutada, allegedly robbed three persons at gunpoint and made away with an unregistered Apsonic motorbike.

Following a swift intelligence-led operation, police recovered the stolen Apsonic motorbike and apprehended the suspects.

Further investigations led officers to an unregistered Loujia motorbike believed to have been used in the commission of the crime. Both motorbikes have been impounded to assist ongoing investigations.

Police said preliminary findings suggest the two may be connected to a series of robbery incidents that have recently terrorised residents within Tumu and its environs.

Investigations are being extended to establish their possible involvement in other criminal activities reported in the district.

The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with inquiries. Efforts are also underway to recover the firearm allegedly used during the robbery.

The Upper West Regional Police Command commended members of the public for their cooperation in providing information that led to the arrests.

It urged residents to continue sharing timely intelligence to support the fight against crime in the region.
