U/ER: Police Arrest 3 Over Alleged Human Trafficking and Forced Prostitution at Gbane

The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects for allegedly trafficking young girls and compelling them into prostitution at Gbane, a suburb of the Talensi District.
The suspects have been identified as Peace Agbede, Favour Sunday Udo, and Faith Levy.
According to police, preliminary investigations show that Agbede met one of the victims in Nigeria and promised to help her enter the Ghanaian movie industry because of her appearance.
The victim accepted the offer and travelled to Ghana with Agbede, but police said the promise was never fulfilled.
Instead, she was taken to a mining site at Gbane-Tongo and coerced into sex work. Authorities stated that the victim was required to pay GHC 400.00 daily to Agbede.
Police added that after the victim gave birth on 26th June 2026, Agbede and Udo allegedly approached her with a proposal to sell the newborn for GHC 20,000.00 to a prospective buyer who had expressed interest in the child.
A search of Agbede’s room yielded six sales recording books containing names including Esther, Mary, Bright, and Silver, as well as 265 unused condoms.
The Police also rescued four other female victims aged between 18 and 20 years from the location.
The three suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court as investigations continue.
