The 1992 Constitution Should be Amended – Lawyer Amaliba Abraham

Lawyer Amaliba Abraham has stated that the 1992 constitution should be amended.
According to Him, the reason for the existence of the constitution depends on how it was formulated and it has given so much powers to the presidency .
He said this in an interview on Opemsuo Radio today, Thursday, August 26th, 2021.
Lawyer Amaliba disclosed that the 1992 constitution was drafted by masons, carpenters and traders, so apart from individual lawyers who were appointment to the formulation, even the Ghana Bar Association boycotted it because they thought that they had the knowledge to do it themselves”
“The Late President Evans Fiifi Atta Mills set up a constitutional review committee which met all stakeholders including the current President.
They finished with their work and a Constitutional implementation committee was also appointed but the current President is not willing to implement their findings” he said.
Recently I heard the President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo saying he does not agree with the late President Atta for triggering the process because it is not the duty of the President to trigger a process.
Lawyer Amaliba explained that the sayings of the current President is false because Late President Atta Mills had every right to do so because a citizen has that right as #FixTheCountry Campaigners are doing.
“The foundation of their anguish is as a result of Article 71 holders. I think that the constitutional review have worked on the Article 71 holders so we should go back to their report,” he suggested.
