Kadjebi-Asato SHS Fire: 70 Students Fainted- GNFS

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed that 70 male students of Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School (SHS) fainted during a fire outbreak at their dormitory.
They are said to have collapsed from shock, panic, and smoke inhalation.
“All affected students have been treated and discharged except two, who are still recovering,” it reported in a statement.
It added that approximately 58 students lost all personal belongings.
The fire, which started on the morning of December 2, destroyed one room and its contents on the first floor.
“The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to a fire at the boys’ dormitory of Kadjebi-Asato SHS after receiving a distress call at 1007 hours on Tuesday, 2nd December 2025.”
Despite lacking a functional fire engine, GNFS personnel, aided by some students, began firefighting and search-and-rescue operations at 1016 hours, successfully averting the total destruction of the dormitory block.
The Service, however, reported that the other rooms and the entire ground floor were salvaged.
It said preliminary investigations found that an electrical fault caused the fire.
The fault, it said, resulted from illegal wiring connections.
