Abla Gomashie Profoundly Grateful to Mahama Over Blekusu Sea Defence

The Member of Parliament for Ketu South Constituency, Hon Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has extended a heartfelt appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama, following the sod cutting ceremony for the second phase of the Blekusu Coastal Protection Project.
In a Facebook post, she narrated how the former government, headed by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, turned a deaf ear to her pleas for the project to be undertaken as the sea threatened residents’ livelihoods and homes.
“For four years, the sea pounded, crushed, pummeled and caused us great devastation. We made calls to those who were in charge. For four years, we made statements on the floor of Parliament on behalf of the affected people. For four years, we lobbied and pleaded. We were promised that the sea defence wall was going to be built. For four years, we yelled and cried, and nothing happened.”
She was informed that a contract had been signed for the second phase II only a month ago.
“You who underpromise and overperform. You who showed us what it means to be compassionate and trustworthy came to tell us that we should have faith, you are with us. You assured me you will build the Blekusu Phase II. Why would I shout?”
She expressed immense gratitude to the President, noting that it had relieved her of a gruesome burden.
“Ladies and gentlemen, help me thank the destiny changer, the visionary leader, the nation builder, the kind, thoughtful, eloquent, brilliant and distinguished first gentleman of the land, the man you must admit God loves gidigidi, The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama.”
The sod cutting took place on July 19, 2025.
