Office Of Mahama: We Will Win More Seats In Ashanti Region

The office of former president John Dramani Mahama is confident the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will increase its number of seats in the Ashanti Region in the 2024 general elections.

In a statement, the Aide to the former President, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, said the statement is without a doubt.

She said this is because the NDC does not take the people in the governing New Patriotic Party’s stronghold for granted as the NPP does.

“Unlike the NPP, the NDC does not take the people of the Ashanti Region for granted. It is for this reason that we have no doubt that we will win many more seats in the region in addition to Asawase; and in the other regions in the upcoming 2024 elections.”

Currently, the NDC holds four out of the 47 parliamentary seats in the region.

Last year, the National Organiser of the NDC, Joseph Yamin, vowed to increase the party’s Parliamentary seats in the region to 12.

“I will win a minimum of seven to 12 seats in the Ashanti Region; mark my words”, Joynews quotes him as saying.

The NDC also hopes to secure majority seats in House in the upcoming elections.

“The NDC will secure an emphatic working majority of seats in the next Parliament that will support the next NDC government to fix the mess created by the NPP and build the Ghana that we all want, together”, the Office of Mahama stated.
