Asante Professionals Club- USA Renovates Manhyia Hospital Children’s Block

The leadership of the Asante Professionals Club – USA, has handed over the renovated Children’s Block of the Manhyia District Hospital to management to improve child healthcare.

The Asante Professionals Club is a group of Ghanaians of Asante lineage living in the United States of America. It comprises people from various professional backgrounds who have come together to utilize their expertise to help develop the Asante nation.

According to the President of the group,  Barbara Acheampong, the move is in honour of the King of the Asante Kingdom, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in line with the activities of his 25th anniversary on the Golden Stool.

“As part of the King’s anniversary activities, the Asante Professionals USA decided to renovate and upgrade the Children’s Ward at the Manhyia District Hospital in honour of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.”

“Prior to the exercise our attention was drawn to the poor state of the facility, and we took up the challenge to give it a facelift in the shortest possible time. We painted the block, designed the rooms for the kids, tiled the washrooms, changed the curtains, mattresses and beds as well as other equipment.”

This gesture is not the first since the formation of the group, President Barbara Acheampong assured of their unceasing contribution toward the development of Asanteman.

Nana Prof Oheneba Boachie Agyei Woahene, the Otumfuo Hiahene and Board Chairman of the Otumfuo Foundation, representing the Asantehene at the brief ceremony, underscored the need for quality healthcare delivery.

He emphasized the fact that “quality healthcare delivery is a top priority for Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for which reason he has initiated several healthcare projects in the Asante Kingdom including the Heal Komfo Anokye Project and construction of the Nana Konadu Yiadom Maternity Block at the Manhyia District Hospital”.

On behalf of the King, he thanked the Asante Professionals Club-USA for their initiative and urged them to continue supporting the development agenda of their beloved Asanteman.

Receiving the facility on behalf of the hospital management, Human Resource Manager Esther Frimpong expressed appreciation to the Asante Professionals Club and indicated that it will improve healthcare for children admitted to the hospital.

She further pleaded with them to continue supporting the Manhyia District Hospital in the quest to provide quality healthcare to the people of Asanteman.

Also present at the handing-over ceremony were members of the group, including Dr. Afua Sarkodie, Awuraba Papabi Amma Krobea, and Bafour Asante, as well as hospital management members and other health professionals from the hospital.
