Sewua Hospital Is Abandoned In The Bush

Dr. Eric Bimpong, a lecturer at KAAF University College has voiced his distress regarding the condition of the Sewua Regional Hospital in the Ashanti Region, describing it as ‘stranded in the bush’.

“We know of a regional hospital that remains stranded in the bush. NAPO said that only transformers are needed for it to be operational, but how long ago was this? Sewua. Even with a regional hospital, they haven’t completed it,” he lamented during a panel discussion on Opemsuo Radio’s Nkwantannanso with Kofi Boakye.

The scholar questioned how projects like the Sewua Hospital and the Suame Interchange, for which the government claimed to have funds, could be halted.

He highlighted the country’s tendency to acquire loans for projects, only for leaders to allocate the funds among themselves before they even reach the designated accounts.

“We acquire loans and distribute them among ourselves even before they reach the accounts. How can a project, purportedly funded, be stalled? Our leaders are self-serving and unaccountable. Once they assume power, they act according to their whims. They seek power to fill their stomachs.”

He attributed this situation to the political leaders, whom he criticized as ‘selfish’.

“We lack selfless leaders. While some argue that Nkrumah diverted our funds to Guinea and elsewhere, what about those of us leaders who haven’t taken the money anywhere? What have they achieved?” he asked.
