20-year-old Gets 20 Years Imprisonment for Robbery

The Wa Circuit Court has handed down a 20-year sentence to a young man after he was found guilty of robbery.

Adams Hamidu is reported to have robbed a victim of a blue Honda motorbike valued at GHC 20,000, a Tecno mobile phone valued at GHC 1,300, and cash amounting to GHC 10,800 in February.

The 20-year-old was arrested on June 1 through intelligence-led operations at Domowa in the Wa-West District and put before court for prosecution.

On June 5, he was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment with hard labour.

In a statement, the Ghana Police Service said his conviction is a testament to the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting the community and upholding the law.

“The Regional Command reassures the public of its continued commitment to fighting crime and ensuring the safety and security of all its residents.”
