Racecourse Traders Lament Over Underdevelopment; Resist KMA’s Levy Re-collection

Traders at Racecourse market in Kumasi have lamented over the level of underdevelopment the market is experiencing and that has led them to strongly resist the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s decision to overtake the levy recollection in the market.

The traders made this known to the media through a press conference held last Friday, 1st July 2022 at the Racecourse market.

According to the traders, the market was left in despair when the KMA was in charge of the levy collection at the market. The market authority then sought approval from the Assembly to collect the levy on their own to develop the market which is gradually manifesting.

According to the traders, for some time now, the Assembly wants to reclaim the levy collection position from the market authority which the market women have resisted through their press conference.
