Professor Christian Agyare Appointed Vice-Chancellor of KNUST

The Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has appointed Professor Christian Agyare as Vice-Chancellor for a four-year term effective 1st August 2026.
The appointment was made at the 292nd (Special) Meeting of the Council held on Wednesday, 13th May 2026, following the consideration and acceptance of the report submitted by the Search Committee for Vice-Chancellor.
Professor Agyare, a Professor of Pharmaceutics and current Provost of the College of Health Sciences, will serve in the role from 1st August 2026 to 31st July 2030.
His appointment reflects confidence in his leadership, administrative experience, and vision for the future of KNUST.
Meanwhile, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene and Chancellor of KNUST, has affirmed his support for the new Vice-Chancellor following a courtesy visit by the university’s Governing Council on May 13 to present the nominee’s name.
“We will continue to offer our support for all leaders of the school, just as we have done for Akosua and her predecessors,” he said.
