Asante Kotoko right-back, Christopher Nettey, has been handed a late call up by Ghana coach CK Akonnor ahead of the 2022 AFCON Qualifier with Sudan on Thursday.
The Black Stars will take on their Sudanese counterparts at the the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in the 3rd group clash of the qualifier.
Nettey, 22, will be the latest to be handed a call up to the Black Stars following the late arrival of Attamah Larweh, Majeed Ashmeru and Afriyie Acquah.
The Attram Di Visser Soccer Academy product comes in as a replacement for Harrison Afful following reports that the Columbus Crew defender will not be able to turn up for the game.
Nettey’s invitation into the Black Stars will be a massive boost for players on the local scene as he becomes the only home based player to have been handed a call up.
Ghana will play Sudan away in Ondurman 5 days later in the second leg of the encounter.
The Black Stars are already on top of the group table with 6 points after recording a 100% start to the campaign with wins over South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe.
