Otumfuo is the Leader of the Black Race – Ahmadiyya Mission

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana has commended Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his immaculate speech during the Emancipation Day Celebration in Trinidad and Tobago and his subsequent lecture at the St Andrews University in Scotland characterizing him as leader of the black race.

The Mission led by its head (Ameer), Alhajj Maulvi Muhammad Noor Bin Salih during a visit to the Manhyia Palace on November 15, 2023, likened the speeches to the “Sermon on the Mount” and expressed their pride in the King.

“We’ve been following keenly, your activities and we are proud to be associated with you and announce everywhere we stand… His Majesty delivered a speech {earlier}. It was thought-provoking and we had friends outside the country calling and commenting. Then later, His Majesty was invited to deliver an international speech about Africa.”

He asserts that the presentation will go down into the books of history, adding, “Every black man is proud of you and sees you as leader of the Black race.”

His Majesty was in Trinidad and Tobago in August 2023 where he addressed the country on Emancipation Day and later at a lecture at the St Augustine Campus of the University of West Indies (UWI).

In September, he travelled to Scotland where he delivered another lecture at St Andrews University.

Coming Of Supreme Spiritual Leader
During the courtesy call, Ameer also informed Otumfuo about the visit of the Supreme head of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad.

The spiritual leader, he told the King, will be in Ghana at the end of February 2024 and stay through to March 2024 and would like to pay a courtesy call on him at his coming.

He intends to pay homage to the King in his Palace.

“We humbly request that His Majesty receives him in a durbar,” he said.

Contribution To KATH Renovation
The Mission then presented a cheque of GHC10,000 as their contribution to the fundraising initiative by Asantehene for the renovation of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

“We heard about the renovation of Komfo Anokye and we felt the urge to help. We come with our widow’s mite of GHc10,000.”

Land Concerns
Finally, the Ameer relayed what it characterized as a “disturbing” issue it is faced with at Asafo where it once had its old building.

According to him, the mission is expected to pay a lease of over GHC2million after demolishing the building for an ultramodern one and wants the intervention of the King for the amount to be reduced.

He stated that the amount is above their capacity.

Honourable Reception Awaits Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad
Otumfuo is prepared to give Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad an honourable reception at the Palace on his arrival in Ghana, he noted as he asserted the coming of the leader is a blessing.

He recalled a reception he got from the leader at his invitation while in the United Kingdom earlier this year.

“He hosted a big reception for me when he invited me. At the prayer meetings of Muslims, footwear wears are not allowed but I was allowed in with my footwear and I was given the chance to address the gathering.”

“I will do everything in my power to give him an honourable reception here at the Palace.”

He also appreciated the contribution of the Mission towards the renovation of the hospital and promised to scrutinize documents relating to their lease.
