ORC to Strike Off 318 Companies from Corporate Register

The Office of the Registrar of Companies has announced plans to strike off 318 companies from the Register of Companies under Section 289(3) of the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992).

The announcement was made in a press release issued on May 20, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to improve the accuracy and reliability of Ghana’s corporate register.

The affected companies will be removed from the register three months after the publication date unless they provide sufficient cause for their retention. Once the process is complete, the companies will stand dissolved.

According to the ORC, the exercise is in line with its mandate to ensure that businesses comply with statutory obligations under the Companies Act.

The Office said maintaining an accurate and credible register is key to promoting investor confidence, corporate transparency, and good governance.

“The ORC reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening compliance enforcement and enhancing the reliability of corporate information available to the public and relevant stakeholders,” the release stated.

The Office has urged affected entities, shareholders, creditors, and other interested persons to review the publication and respond within the stipulated period if necessary.

The strike-off process is a routine regulatory measure used to clear inactive or non-compliant entities from the register.
