Ofori-Atta and Others Ousted in Akufo-Addo’s Ministerial Shake-up
Thirteen Ministers in various ministries have been affected by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s reshuffling activity including Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta, Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman Manu and Roads and Highways Minister Kwasi Amoako Atta.
In all, 13 ministers including 2 women and 11 men, got hit by the reshuffling.
The sickle of the President affected Interior Minister Ambrose Dery, Information Minister Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah, Works and Housing Minister Francis Asenso Boakye, Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Kwaku Afriyie and Gender, Children and Social Protection Lariba Abudu.
Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Regional Minister Henry Quartey, Oti Regional Minister Joseph Makubu, Sanitation and Water Resources Minister Freda Prempeh and Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Ibrahim Mohammed Awal were also impacted.
Also, thirteen deputies comprising four women have been removed, some for new positions.
They include Fatimatu Abubakar, with the Information Ministry; Collins Ntim Aboagye, and Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah with the Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development; Hon. Ama Pomaa Boateng with the Communication Ministry; Tina Mensah and Mohammed Asei Seini with the Health Ministry; and Hon. Abdulai Abanga with Works and Housing Ministry.
Also affected are Benito Owusu Bio with the Lands and Natural Resources; Moses Anim, Fisheries and Aquaculture Development; William Owuraku Aidoo and Andrew Egyapa Mercer with the Energy Ministry; Gifty Twum Ampofo with Education; and Bright Wireko-Brobbey of the Employment and Labour Relations.
In a communiqué, the office of the President said the appreciation of the head of state had been expressed to the affected.
“The President personally expressed his sincere appreciation to each of the Ministers and Deputy Ministers, who have exited government, for their commitment, competence, dedication and hard work in office, which helped in the realization of Government’s mandate to the Ghanaian people over the last seven (7) years, and wished each of them well in their future endeavours.”
The President has also named designates to take over new positions for some of these ministers and their deputies.
