Obaapa Christy: Showing Up In School Was Because I Led Worship

Gospel musician, Rev. Obaapa Christy, has narrated how her love for singing created room for her to love attending school on a regular basis.

According to her, the joy in being called upon to lead praises and worship during school days was exceptional and healed her distaste for education.

“I began my music in school. My joy for school was on Fridays when I received a round of applause at the mention of my name to lead praises and worship. I never went to school for the sake of education. Music made me love showing up at school”, she recollected.

She relayed this during the official launch of her 20th anniversary in the music industry.

Although she officially joined the music industry in 2002 with the release of “Metease”, she recalled that her music career began way back in school.

Now a Reverend Minister, Obaapa Christy says she is grateful to God.

“I thank God for where he has brought me and where he is taking me”.
