NPA Denies Financial Loss in Auditor-General’s Report

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has dismissed media reports suggesting financial mismanagement, stating that the Auditor-General’s Performance Audit Report on its operations for 2023 to 2025 does not establish any financial or revenue loss to the Authority.

In a statement issued by its Corporate Affairs Directorate, the NPA said it had taken note of a media publication commenting on the recently released audit report.

The Authority stated that characterisations in the media suggesting “rot”, corruption or financial misappropriation are not findings contained in the Auditor-General’s Performance Audit Report.

It specifically noted that the report by The NewsCenta Newspaper did not capture the Management response to the audit findings.

“The Authority remains committed to transparency, accountability and sound corporate governance,” the statement said.

The NPA added that it will continue to engage constructively with the Audit Service and implement appropriate recommendations aimed at strengthening regulatory oversight, operational efficiency and consumer protection within Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.

The Authority urged the public to rely only on official communications from the NPA regarding the matter.
